The Hoosier Oncology Group operates as a cancer research organization established to evaluate innovative and promising methods and approaches to cancer treatment through, among other things, clinical research. Engendering cooperation between medical center scientists and community practitioners enables HOG to achieve the goal of treating cancer patients within their own communities, while contributing significant research to the worldwide battle against cancer.

Hoosier Oncology Group Presents Research Findings at ASCO

This year, several Hoosier Oncology Group (HOG) research studies were presented at the prestigious American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) conference, held in Chicago, May 30-June 3, 2008

Dr. Noah Hahn’s abstract titled “Phase II Study of Pemetrexed (Alimta) as Second-Line Therapy for Hormone Refractory Prostate Cancer” (read ASCO abstract) was accepted by ASCO for publication. “This study demonstrated that pemetrexed has modest activity in the second line treatment of metastatic castrate resistant prostate cancer patients who progressed on prior docetaxel therapy. However, the activity is not sufficient to recommend further testing in a phase III trial”, comments Dr. Hahn, investigator and first author on the study  abstract. Read Entire Article
